Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect and safety of compound polymyxin B ointment combined JUC in wound healing after topical aminolaevulinic acid-based photodynamic therapy (5-ALA-PDT) for the condyloma acuminatum.

Methods

Total of 231 patients with condyloma acuminatum from our outpatient-room, were divided into two groups randomly. After 5ALA-PDT therapy, patients in the control group topically used 3% boric acid solution, and patients in the treatment group topically used compound polymyxin B ointment combined with JUC besides 3% boric acid solution.

Results

Compared with the control group (13.82%, 10.57%, 4.07% and 10.6%), the pain incidence rates (5.56%), the infection incidence rates (2.78%), the incidence rates of the scar and pigment residue (0%), the relapse rate (3.7%) of patients in the treatment group were all with significant differences (all P < 0.05).

Conclusions

Compound polymyxin B ointment combined with JUC could be used effectively and safely after 5ALA-PDT treatment for condyloma acuminatum. The combined treatment could release the pain and the rates of recurrence and with less adverse reaction.
