Interpretation of 2024 World Health Organization guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment for people with chronic hepatitis B infection

Abstract

Abstract:

In order to better achieve the goal of eliminating viral hepatitis by 2030, the World Health Organization (WHO) released the latest version of the guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment of chronic hepatitis B patients at the Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver annual meeting on March 30th, 2024. The core of the new guidelines is to expand the scope of testing and treatment and simplify the management strategy. WHO updated the 2015 guidelines according to the reality of the world, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This article makes an excerpt and preliminary interpretation of the recommendations of the guidelines.
